What we check
Rollover clauses. Does the contract renew itself, and on whose terms.
Notice windows. The last date you can act, and what happens the day after.
Out-of-contract drift. Any supply that has quietly slipped onto default rates, covered in deemed rates.
Unit rate against quote. What you were sold, measured against what you are billed. That check is bill validation.
The rollover problem
A contract that renews itself is worth money to whoever wrote it. Since 1 October 2022 a supplier cannot require a microbusiness to give any termination notice on a fixed-term energy contract (Ofgem, Microbusiness Strategic Review decision, in force 1 October 2022). You can move the day the fixed period ends. Up to 30 days' notice survives only on Evergreen contracts, and plenty of paperwork still says otherwise. Waste and water sit outside those rules, which is why we read them line by line.

- How much does a business utility contract review cost?
Nothing. We read your contracts and send you what we find. If you then switch energy through us, our fee is 1.5p per kWh, on the quote before you sign.
- Do I have to give notice to leave a business energy contract?
On a fixed-term microbusiness contract, no. Since 1 October 2022 suppliers cannot require any termination notice, so you can move when the fixed period ends (Ofgem, licence changes in force 1 October 2022). Evergreen contracts can still carry up to 30 days. The mechanics are in how to switch business energy.
- What is classed as a utility bill for business?
Gas, electricity, water and wastewater, and in practice commercial waste collection. Broadband and phone are billed as services rather than utilities, though the contracts behave much the same.
- What are the types of utilities in business?
